Passage: Matthew 2
Service Type:

Malachi 5:2 | Hosea 11:1 | Jeremiah 31:15 | John 15:18-20 | Romans 8:28 | John 1:4-5

Herod is not a character in the Christmas story we like to focus on too much. He is an evil, power-mad tyrant hell-bent on murdering Jesus. And yet this section of scripture has so much to teach us about Jesus, ourselves and our world. It shows us that Jesus confronts the world, that Jesus demands a response and that Jesus ultimately wins. Opposition and even persecution is to be expected for all those who follow Jesus but the good news is that no evil or opposition can ever thwart the plans and purposes of God for our lives and our world.
