Although Solomon is described as the wisest king there has ever been, and there are 106 different sayings about wisdom or being wise in the book of Proverbs, many telling us to pursue wisdom and value wisdom more highly than gold or silver, Solomon also writes (in Ecclesiastes 1:12) that wisdom is meaningless. Why? Is this a sudden change of heart? The talk concludes that Solomon realises that wisdom disconnected from God is pointless; only God is wise, and wisdom is to know God. Solomon demonstrated God's wisdom to earthly kings and rulers; our task now is to demonstrate the wisdom of God not just to those round about us, but to the heavenly realms as well (Ephesians 3: 8-10)
