2 Kings 8:1-6 | 1 Corinthians 14:39
This true story from the life of the Old Testament prophet Elisha records 2 remarkable miracles. The first took place when Elisha was really keen to prophesy and bring a word from God to the Shunnamite Woman. But the second, and arguably the greater miracle, takes place when Elisha appears reluctant to prophecy and indeed seeks to avoid meeting the woman all together! The talk looks at this passage from the perspective of the 3 main players in turn, that is Elisha, Gehazi (his assistant) and the Shunnamite Woman herself, and finally speaks to those of us who, like the Shunnamite woman, might be facing the “death of a dream”.
